What is cultured marble ... ?Cultured marble and cultured onyx are man-made molded products. It is a blend of polyester resin, real stone filler, pigment and catalyst. Each piece is individually cast allowing variations in color, surface texture, shape and swirl/splash design. Cultured Marble is used for wall paneling, and tub enclosures, shower surrounds and vanity tops. It can be cleaned with the same product generally used to keep windows sparkling and clean, and there are fewer joints to attract stains and mildew. Cultured marble, cultured onyx and granite effect offer many advantages compared to other materials used for tub enclosures, shower surrounds and vanity tops. Some of these enhancements are:

Back to TopGel coat vs. non-gel coat ... ?Gel coated Surface Custom marble gel coats it's product. Gel coat is the same specially formulated clear resin used on the outside of fiberglass boats. Generally, this is what makes the fiberglass boat shiny, as well as, protect the fiberglass matting. Gel coat produces a tough, transparent surface resistant to normal wear. Back to TopHow should I care for my cultured marble? ... ?Care for Cultured Marble Cultured marble provides an extremely durable surface which is resistant to staining. Care is very simple. Use a soft sponge, or cloth, and a non abrasive cleaner, such as Formula 409, window cleaner (Windex) or a fiberglass cleaner (one made for boats or RVs, i.e. Gel Gloss), or any other non abrasive cleaner. This will allow the product to maintain its original appearance. If the cultured marble becomes dull in appearance due to soap residue, hard water deposit, or non-cleaning, it can be buffed, using a rubbing compound, back to its original glossy finish.
